Department for adult readers

This section provides services for all users older than 14 years. It can be found in the House of Culture (Dom kulture) on the main square of Čačak, in Župana Stracimira Street No. 1.
It is open: Monday – Friday from 7:30h to 19:00h, on Saturday from 9:00h to 13:00h.

In this department, which possesses more than 60 000 publications, everyone from the wide range of users will find the book he is looking for: pupils from secondary schools and university students as well as employees and pensioners… Apart from fiction titles, there is also a considerable amount of technical literature from the fields of philosophy, religion, sociology, economics, law, nature sciences, arts, geography, history and philology.

The department for adult readers is the oldest section of the city library, and it shares its destiny since the foundation. Four employees work in the department. In order to fulfill the necessities of the users there is an electronic database and catalogues ordered by alphabet or topic. The users are free to use the book fund and the catalogues of the department.

The users are provided with the following services:
– They can borrow books and ask for recommendations.
– Librarians offer guidance and help with the use of the book funds and catalogues, and provide information about the activities of the library.
– Users can reserve publications.
– Librarians help with the search for literature that is needed for papers or essays by pupils or university students.
– Users can work on computers and surf the web in the Internet Club, and the librarian will kindly help them with the usage of the computers.

In the adult section, there is also a permanent set of recently acquired books. From time to time, there are exhibitions of books for special occasions: a certain date, an anniversary or a famous person commemoration. There is also the weekly exposition The Book of the Week –the library users are presented the review of a recommended book each week.
